Coffs Harbour takes centre stage on TV screens worldwide thanks to the Australian Oztag Senior Championships and new Seebo sponsorship
People in over 30 countries expected to tune in to event that will contribute $3 million into local economy
Melbourne, Australia, 10 November, 2014 – Seebo Networks has today announced its naming rights sponsorship for the Seebo Australian Oztag Senior Championships, in a development that will now enable Australian Oztag to live-stream this fast-growing Australian sport to the world and raise the global profile of Coffs Harbour in lead up to the Oztag World Cup next year. The sponsorship comes at a pivotal time in Seebo’s history, coinciding with the launch of the Seebo MAXX, an exciting new locally developed and built ultra-smart entertainment hub.
Now in its tenth year at C.ex Coffs International Stadium and held from November 14-16, the Seebo Australian Oztag Senior Championships is the code’s flagship event, with local associations throughout NSW, ACT and QLD bringing together the very best Oztag players. The tournament is open to male and female competitors from 15–50+ years, with upward of 4,000 participants, coaches, supporters and families expected to converge on Coffs Harbour as a direct result of this event, contributing more than $3 million to the local economy.
The innovative live streaming of the tournament that is available due to Seebo’s sponsorship will be via Epicentre.tv and will live stream Field 1 games on Sunday 16 November. The first live stream of the Juniors Oztag Championships held three weeks ago saw thousands of people from 30 different countries tune in, with this figure only expected to increase.
“As an Australian entertainment start-up, we appreciate the importance of supporting a local grass-roots sport that is experiencing tremendous growth. We also intimately understand the role local sport plays in our culture and the value Aussies place on being able to continue to enjoy their favourite sport both live in the stadium as well as on their big screen TVs,” said Pat Tyers, Marketing Manager, Seebo Networks.
“We are thrilled to be the conduit that will showcase Coffs Harbour and OzTag to an Australia-wide and global audience. Aussies whether here or abroad can now enjoy watching their family and friends compete via a free live streamed broadcast,” he added.
“Coffs Harbour has been the perfect location for Oztag over the last decade. Our relationship with the local Council, local businesses and the people of Coffs Harbour has meant that Oztag competitors and families have always been warmly welcomed. Our participants have reciprocated by injecting over $3 million into the local economy each year, and I also believe that the local community embracing this event was an important part of bringing on board Seebo as a new corporate partner of ours”, said Bill Harrigan, Tournament Director, Australian Oztag.
“Seebo recognise the importance of supporting its own and we are delighted that they have come on board so we can show the rest of Australia and the world that Oztag is an exciting sport and that Coffs Harbour is a great, family-friendly place to visit”, he added.
